Vendor Spotlight: Shadow Creek

Shadow Creek Weddings & Events’ romantic equestrian barn sits on 200 private acres in Northern Virginia and welcomes you to the heart of Loudoun County wine country. With multiple ceremony sites, flexible space configurations, dressing suites, and stunning scenery, it’s no wonder Shadow Creek has been called one of Virginia’s best wedding venues. In July, we got a chance to catch up with Owner, Lori Carlyle.

Tell us a little about Shadow Creek? What makes your venue so special?

Shadow Creek sits amidst rolling hills with views of grazing cattle, if you are lucky, and has a sense of serenity and calmness about it. You can sit on the ceremony site and not see anything but gorgeous scenery for hundreds of acres.

We have been open for seven years, and we treat each client as they were our first. We still maintain the enthusiasm and love that we started with, and I believe that is what attracts so many couples to us.

Do you have a favorite season to host events at Shadow Creek?

I love the change of the seasons, but my favorite is fall. The transition of the vibrant bright colors to the subtle bronze and gold is just so beautiful and the brisk chill in the air just gives me a wonderful feeling. Everyone loves a fall wedding!

What is your favorite event you have worked with Select Event Group on?

My most favorite recent event that Select Event Group did was the wedding with the new Timbertrac Tent, it was absolutely outstanding and jaw dropping beautiful! It received so many reviews and likes and hopefully will create many more opportunities to come!

What event trends are you loving right now? Any that you are happy to see go?

I am seeing the trend now for couples to “go big” with their budgets, since they have been in “lock down” for so long! It has been a great way to reopen, since we were shutdown for 14 months. I don’t think you would call this a trend, but it is certainly a new approach to their budgets. As we continue to navigate this pandemic, I am grateful for our space flexibility allowing couples to choose the best option for their celebration.

Top three pieces of advice when selecting an event venue?

2. Accessibility for guests (handicap)
3. On site commercial generator

And here are a few more worth mentioning, 4. on site bridal suite and groom’s lounge, 5. Parking accessibility, and 6. Climate control.
